Product details

Neodymium magnets are manufactured on the basis of Nd-Fe-B alloys and sintered Neodymium magnets have the highest (BH)max value among all of commercially available permanent magnets. Neodymium ring magnets are circular in shape with a concentric hole inside it. Magnet ring can be divided to pure ring or countersunk ring based on the detailed shape of the inner hole. Neodymium ring magnet should be measured by outer diameter (O.D.), inner diameter (I.D.), and thickness (T). Similar to Neodymium disc magnet, ring shaped magnet can be magnetized with its N pole and S pole opposite flat end surfaces or diametrically magnetized so as to the N pole is on one curved side and the S pole is on opposite curved side. Besides the conventional axially magnetized or diametrically magnetized magnets, radially oriented ring magnet is also available in Hongyu. In addition, Neodymium magnets are easily corrode under humid condition and are necessary to cover with a protective coating.

Machining Process

Material selection: Neodymium magnets are made from an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron, often referred to as NdFeB. The specific composition of the alloy will depend on the desired magnetic properties of the final product.

Cutting the raw material: The first step in machining neodymium ring magnets is to cut the raw material into the desired shape and size. This can be done using a variety of methods, such as wire EDM (electrical discharge machining) or laser cutting.

Grinding the material: Once the material has been cut, it is often necessary to grind it to the exact dimensions required for the final product. This is typically done using a diamond grinding wheel, which can create very precise shapes and sizes.

Magnetization: Once the material has been cut and ground, it must be magnetized in order to create the desired magnetic properties. This can be done using a variety of methods, such as pulse magnetization or multi-pole magnetization.

Inspection and testing: After the neodymium ring magnets have been magnetized, they must be inspected and tested to ensure that they meet the required specifications. This can involve measuring the magnetic field strength, as well as checking the dimensions and overall quality of the magnet.

Coating: Finally, neodymium ring magnets may be coated with a protective layer of nickel or other material to prevent corrosion and ensure long-lasting performance.

Overall, the process of machining neodymium ring magnets requires a high degree of precision and expertise, as even small variations in the manufacturing process can have a significant impact on the final product's magnetic properties and overall performance.
